I love character art! Not only that, these are some great characters! I especially enjoy the more obscure X-Men characters, as they haven't been explored quite as much as the mainstream ones. But I digress. I love the colors and the way Skottie Young does body proportions. He is amazing! You'll hear more about him on subsequent occasions.

More beautiful character art and coloring! Surge is a sweet character, and the electricity effects are beautiful (I'm also drawn to Japanese culture).

Tired of character art yet? Not me! I love how the artist used lighting and color to simplify these detailed characters and focus on the similarities of their team uniforms. We still get hints of what makes each character unique, but the main focus is that they are X-Men (though in this issue they are actually in Weapon X uniforms, but let's not get picky).

Spider-Man! There are a ton of Spider-Man covers that I love, but this is one of my absolute favorites! I am amazed at how the artist used solid blacks and whites to make one spectacular airborne Spidey!

I love this version of the Green Goblin! His costume and gadgets are way more interesting than the original goblin (he was cool in the '60s), plus this goblin's a hero! Off my soapbox. I love the limited color pallet that still makes a big impact with the deep shadows and bright colors.

What I really love about this cover is the hair! Maybe I could draw hair that cool, maybe not, but it would take forever! The detail is amazing! I also love the Spidey doll!

The Sailor Moon artist, Naoko Takeuchi, is amazing! She does unbelievable things with color on her covers! This isn't necessarily my all-time favorite of her covers, but it has some great elements. If you get a chance, check out more of her cover art. You won't regret it!

I love good use of white (or black). This snow scene is fantastic! I also hope to someday be able to draw people's breath that convincingly!

Mike Mignola is one of by absolute favorite artists! If you read more of my reviews in the future, you'll hear much more about him. His pencil work and use of deep shadows is divine, and I especially love it when he adds watercolor--as seen in this particular cover. I could go on and on, but I'll dedicate an entire post to him another day!

This officially my favorite comic book cover (and also one of my favorite comic book characters)! Molly from Runaways is incredibly strong, but also very much a little girl. I love how the artist conveys both of those aspects of Molly while telling a very dramatic story of duck saving! In my opinion, it doesn't get better than this!
