Brent and I grew up with pencils in our hands. Every time we'd get together we'd show off our most recent drawings. As we progressed from elementary school to junior high, we graduated from spiral bound notebook paper to more prestigious mediums. My artistic life was heavily influenced by my childhood compadre and cannot be discussed without mentioning him.
To me, art is a blend of aesthetics and emotion, of expression and communication. Sometimes I struggle to convey my vision through my medium of choice, but it's a creative process that is wildly human. Everyone has a unique interaction with art, whether it's stacking up tires with a crane or just "putting a bird on it"; the experience of creation has a degree of value that can only be measured by the creator.
Thank you for the opportunity to share a portion of my experience and journey through this fantastic activity we call Art.

"So many of my artistic interests and skills were developed while drawing with my childhood best friend, Derrek! We spent a good portion of our time together drawing, and I have always admired his style and ideas--and I hope you do too!" -Brent
